Replacing my wooden deck

I am in the middle of a complete refurb of an old Weeres pontoon. The deck currently has four sheets (4 x 8) of plywood that run perpendicular to the support rails. The deck fits under a 1 1/4" lip (approx.) around all four sides of the boat. My question is once I get the old deck out how do I get the new sheets of ply to fit under the lip rail? Does the ply bow enough to fit under the lip and then lay flat? I don't see where the lip rail could be removed on one side. Is this a one-man job?

As soon as I get the new decking on I'm ready with everything else (carpet, furniture, etc.).

Any advice?

I would think there has to be some way that the edge rails can come off, I don't know that you're going to be able to bend marine plywood enough to get it in there. Or maybe on the front or rear of the tune, can they be slid inside? All the ones I've done you can remove the edges.

How wide is the horizontal leg of the trim that overlaps the plywood on top?

Perhaps you start placing the ply sheets in and all the way under the trim lip starting at one corner.
Then you cut the very last one just enough to drop in.
None of the plywood is yet fastened, so you then jimmy the sheets a bit so that they are all under the trim.

I've never redecked a pontoon but I think Jeeperman has the right idea.

That may work. I probably need to examine the boat more closely (it's at my cabin) to see if there is a way that one side of the lip edge comes off...if so, that would make it easy. I'm also going to call the mfg. to see what they suggest.

I'm basically re-doing the entire boat from the deck up so I want to make sure I start with a good foundation.

Appreciate the help...any other advice would be appreciated.

I really don't think the manufacturer jimmies any sheet under the railing. I think the railing comes off and you put the full sheets down then put the railing back on. Look at it and think about how they built it, then unbuild it to the point where you can put your new sheets on.
