Let me try this again:
I am considering replacing my outdrive. I currently have an Alfa installed, and have a chance to pick up an Alfa One. will the alfa one match up on the gimbal or do I have to replace the whole shooting match.

Thanks

Re: Replacing Outdrive

No such thing as an "Alpha" You have either an Alpha I or and Alpha I Gen II of drives with the Alpha names.
What year is it?

An Alpha 1 will bolt right on......
But, depending on the year, it will be a Gen 1 or Gen2...
& that is not interchangeable......;)

Re: Replacing Outdrive

Well,.........

I'm Guessing that you have a Pre-Alpha, Mod.I, Or "R" drive.......
Pick a name,.. They're All pretty much the Same.......
Btw,.... Those being the more Common names,....
Merc. called them the MC-Is, I-Rs,+ I-MRs.......

Anyways,.......

The drive that preceeded the Alpha 1(pick a name from above),..... Is Pretty Much a Direct Interchange with the Alpha 1 drives......
Up to the year the Alpha 1, Gen.II came out,..... that being 1991......

So,.......

Complete Outdrives are Pretty Much a Direct Interchange with each other from the Early 70s to 1991...........
Though there Are a few "Gotcha's"...........
