Re: Replacing power steering pump - 3.0LX
Found this after some creative searching:
"Get a bolt about 3-4" long that has the same threads as the shaft on the PS pump.....
Get a stout flat washer with the right inner diameter to fit over the shaft but not over the pulley....
Get a nut for that bolt & thread it up enough that the bolt, nut, & then washer can be threaded into the shaft with the pully in place...
Thread the bolt until it seats, (not too tight).....
Hold the bolt end with a wrench & tighten the nut.....
It should draw the pully on........"
Anyone vote on that method or have a better idea?
Also.. regarding the bleeding, I found this post by Don S.:
"Fill up the PS pump, then, with the engine OFF, turn the wheel lock to lock 3 or 4 times. Check the oil and top off, and do it again. Then start the engine and do the same thing.
If you don't do it without the engine running first, you may get a shaking of the drive when you turn it."
When you say "turn the wheel lock to lock", what do you mean by this?
