Each time I come here with a new question means I have successfully fixed, replaced, or determined my problem from the previous question. I would call that great progress thanks to you folks.

Anyway the question. While I have the outdrive off the boat I wanted to fix the skeg. When I got the boat a good portion of it is missing. So is it better to buy a replacement skeg and have some one weld it on or will one of the bolt on skeg protectors work just fine? Then ones that I see are stainless steel. Will the difference in metals cause a problem?

They both seem to cost about the same but I can work a screw driver. Welding is out of my hands.
Thanks guys and gals.

SS could cause corrosion if you boat in salt water and leave the boat in the water for extended periods. Your local prop shop can probably weld it on for you.

Not much there to bolt to I would have it welded. A good shop can make it look like new.

Ayuh,.... Ditto gettin' it welded up at a prop shop...

'n ya don't need to buy 1, 'n have it welded on,...

At the prop shop, they'll just carve out a piece of 1/4" plate, weld it on, 'n blend it out, with a grinder...
