Replacing starter question???

I have to replace my starter on my 3.0L mercrusier (2001 I believe) because I believe the one installed is an automotive starter. The question is: Is a matching Sierra starter, instead of a mercrusier starter, suitable to use?? It is a considerable savings.

As long as it's a marine starter, it will work.
