Replacing Stator and or ignition switch which one or both

I have a seloc repair manuel and according to the trouble shooting ignition section when I test for continuity between #7 and #4 termial on the remote control harness for the switch I do not get continuity reading. The stator test also show the stator is bad when following the test proceedures. Could one faulty unit be affecting the other. Which should I replace first? or both at once? The boat just quit running suddenly, and would not start back up no fire at all. Thanks for any advise
