I replaced the impeller already on my 74' 35hp Chrysler. When it runs I don't think enough water is being expelled through the outlet in the back of the engine. I would like to change the thermostat but I do not know where it is or how to get it out. This should be my last problem to solve before it hits the water. If all works well I will post a how to for converting a magneto ignition system to a 12v coil type. I will wait until it is water tested.

Re: Replacing the thermostat

Thermostat cover should be in the back of the motor at the top. Three screws hold it in place. Be careful removing the screws so you don't twist any off.

Can you hold your hand on the powerhead while at idle. If so, I wouldn't worry about the thermostat.
