hi, I have a 1985 J140 TLCO
can 1/4 I.D. auto store fuel line be used to replace my VRO oil line from primer bulb to front of motor? or do i need a special oil line from a dealer?

also... please see link... http://shop2.evinrude.com/Index.aspx?s1=hhj894b5ou17e3qm6mel761h72&catalog_id=0&siteid=1
on my VRO primer bulb I pulled #6 (NIPPLE & VALVE ASSY to motor) out of #3 (PRIMER BULB) when removing the old oil line. it pushed back in, not easy but it whent in. will this be a problem?

thank you for any input...

You can. You shouldn't. Marine fuel hose is thicker wall and more fire resistant than auto hose. Shouldn't be a problem with primer bulb if doesn't leak fuel or suck air. Put a screw clamp on the end that pulled out.

thank you for the reply... i do use marine fuel hose for all under deck gas lines... i went down to my local omc dealer & they had the yellow oil line (looks just like automotive fuel line... not thick) but not in the 1/4 I.D.. thanks again for the input...

Careful.....many fuel hoses are not oil compatible. Check their specs first before using, especially for the oil line!

The dealer's 345448 is the oil supply hose, sold in bulk. Should have a yellow stripe. It takes a special 1/4" hose bulb too: 175985

Be sure to use the correct clamps on the hose and the ball. The #322654 Snap-clamps work the best (65 cents each), even better than the later wire clamps that OMC/ BRP came out with. Do not use worm-gear hose clamps or ty-raps. Hold the primer bulb vertically when bleeding the line before hooking it up to the pump so that all the air is evacuated from the bulb and hose.
