I have a 1985 175hp outboard Johnson. It has a defective VRO system and the mechanic told me to go mechanical fuel pumps if I'm interested in pre-mixing. I've looked through the manual and can't find the part numbers to these pumps (2 for V-6). Anybody out there know??? Another question, why does it need two pumps???

Re: Replacing VRO with fuel pumps

I would ask which side of the pump is bad. If the oil side is bad but the fuel side is still working, just disconnect the oil side and oil side alarms and use whats' left. If the fuel side is bad, you can get repair kits to fix the fuel end and motor end back to working condition. If you want to premix...again, just disconnect the oil end and it's alarms.

Look up any 1983 V6 engine for the numbers for both pumps, plus the hoses that you need.
