i ddint really want to hijack the other gentleman's thread but i did want to talk about the PG V16 SC. the mid deck storage is damn nice. it will fit 3 life jackets safety cushion 100' anchor rope army poncho liner box of garbage bags and it still has room for the two bumpers i keep for docking. probably will fit more but thats what i keep in it. the deck and the center hold have that plastic truck bed liner style floor and the main deck has the drain in the floor to the bilge for washing the deck. its got two rod lockers i have 6 rods stored in one and the paddle transom saver another blanket and the chocks for the trailer along with the two running lights in the other rod locker.
two storage compartments in the rear one of which has the motor batter where i keep the first aid kit flare gun two dock ropes and the boat manual with registration copy and battery jumper cables. the other compartment oposite it is lined and functions as an ice chest drop in the drinks and pour in the ice. it drains in to the bilge as the ice melts.
in front the is a live well with removable bait bucket the live well has a seperator to keep violant fish like pike from other species. removign the bait bucket gives the live well a lot more space. live well drains into the bilge for overflow or out the bottom of the boat if the plug is pulled. it has a timer for the live well which can fill it continous or 3 minutes off 1 minute on timer.
in front of the live well is the forward battery compartment for the troller battery with storage on either side.
i can tore everything i need in the various compartments with room leftover and it looks like the boat is empty with everything stored away. whomever designed the layout of the PG V16 SC was a freekin genius.
the 50hp motor i have is a fourstroke and it gets the boat up and on plain fast enough for me. im sure the 75 would be more robust but i dont go much over 25mph anyway.
i used to run a 23 foot wellcraft center console fishing boat in the gulf of mexico and it would get up to 65mph flat out and it always scared me going that fast as i was sure i was going to hit floating debris and not have time to do anything about it. just my paranoid nature. 25 mph in my tracker is plenty fast for me on the water it will get anywhere on any lake short of lake michigan quickly enough for my tastes.
the only thing i changed was putting a HDS sonar on it mainly for the gps system it has.
i still havent found a good way to keep the motor from swinging back and forth while trailoring other than tying the steering wheel to a cleat with one of the dock ropes. also havent found a good way to store the anchor while trailoring other than keeping it in the truck.
