I can't seem to figure out how to reply to a post with a quote, without getting the entire quoted post in my reply. What I want to do is quote a sentence or two from another post and attribute that quote/sentence to the author. I see that done all over but I'm baffled as to what they're doing.

Re: Reply with Quote Question

Are you talking about the multi quote? Are you hitting the multi quote option? By the way I see it you half to high light the multi quote button under the post of the person or people you want to quote then do a quote option..

Hmmm. OK. Got me puzzled now. The one with 2 quotes on it is the kind of quote you want to do correct?

Still doesn't look right.

Are you hitting the quote button after high lighting the multi quote by the person's post of subject you want to quote?

Re: Reply with Quote Question

What I'm trying to do is take a wordy, lengthy post and extract a few sentences that apply to the response I'm posting. I might be responding to a post 25 posts back so I'm just trying to give a short context to my reply.

I don't know, even if you are doing a quick post all you half to do is check the quote message in reply and high light the message you want to quote. Not unless you have some option turned off.

Re: Reply with Quote Question

2 ways. If you want to put a single quote in, just hit reply quote, and then highlight, and delete the garbage you don't want to quote, but be sure to leave the Quote bars IE
and the persons name.

If you want to do multi quotes, go to the REGULAR reply box, and look at the bar, where all the fonts are. There will be one, that is a talking bubble, like seen in comic books. Click on this. Quote, with brackets around it, will pop up twice. Now, scroll down, to the post you want to quote, and highlight the bit you want. Hit EDIT, and COPY. Now, go up, and put your cursor between the two quote boxes. Hit EDIT, and PASTE. You are now good to go.

I may half to turn this over to somebody else, it's gone over my head now lol. I understand what you are saying but. If you want to take a portion of a message and quote it you can't delete the biggining and ending
markings

Hmm? Ok I can quote the whole message, but not parts of it. Oh well, I'm leaving this for another day. Thanks for your help, bro.

Sure hope you get some rain down there soon. I'm dry for the winter, but you guys shouldn't be.
