repositioning the steering wheel

I have a 2006 Seaswirl 170 with a steering wheel that is 90 degrees to the right. I would like to remove it and rotate it counter-clockwise so it is straight.

The steering wheel has six Torx type screws holding it down, but the unit has telescoping steering. I don't want to remove it if there is a spring or some other collar ring that might pop off. I hate when that happens!

There is nothing in the manual about steering wheels.

the six Torx type screws are most likely only holding the wheel onto a hub or adapter that is on a splined shaft held on by one lage center nut under the wheel.
Take wheel off, rotate to where you want the wheel and bolt back on.
Six Torx type screws gives you position choices of 60 degrees at a time.
If 60 degrees is not enough, you will have to undo the center shaft nut until it is loose but flush with the end of the shaft threads.
Then with a 4lb. hammer and someone else pulling on the hub, rap the end of the shaft a few times. But not so hard as to break something like the gear at the other end.

The steering wheel may have a center medallion or plug that can be popped out in order to leave the wheel bolted to the hub while trying to remove from shaft too.

If the hub is on a splined shaft you might want to apply some PB Blaster to the splines and let soak a few hours or overnight.

The Steering Shaft is Keyed,....... Not Splined.......

There's alittle bit of Adjustment at the Steering Actuator at the Outdrive,.....
But None at the Helm.......

I suggest you learn to Live with It........
