Reposted this due to spell check foul up...Sorry
Ok Finally got this project boat in the water on the weekend, had an awful exhaust leak at the underneath of the manifold, changed gasket, but still has a very noisy air leak, suspect a crack in the manifold at head? but other then that runs perfect..
What I would like to know is what kind of performance I could expect from boat 2500 lbs ...it seems to take a bit to plane out and overall speed seemed pretty good, but I was a little dissapointed...my smaller/lighter 17' boat with 40hp johnson was considerably slower, but that was to be expected ...huge difference in size/hp of motor ......gas mileage also seemed poor in 165hp.....
Can anyone give me their thoughts on what kind of performance/gas mileage they get in a similar boat with same engine?.....just want something to compare it to....also throttle seems very touchy, small movement changes rpm like crazy...can this be adjusted better?
seems freely moving, not hung up...
Thanks for your patience!

1st off,....... You could just as easily go back to your 1st thread,+ Re-Edit it,......
Instead of starting a New Thread.......

2nd,...... The responce is going to be the Same,.........

Get it Fixed,+ Running Right,...........
Then your Fuel Mileage,+ Power will be where they are Supposed to Be.........

That 165hp Should be pushing that Boat quite Smartly,+ with Great Fuel Economy................

I've got a 16'7" Searay with a 120 hp It will pull two skiers out of the water on two skis each. I will pull my fat butt out of the water on a slalom. Yours should do better than that with 45 more horse and about the same size boat. when I was a kid friends dad had the same boat I do now same year with the 165 and he could pull four skiers out.
