Hi all, getting tired of the fuel and oil bills, looking to bite the bullet and repower with four strokes.

Any thoughts and opinions on the below listed motors? Power range will be 200 to 225, choices are limited by locally availiable maintenance.

In the order I am currently considering:

Suzuki DF 200 or 225
Mercury Verado's
Yamaha 200's or 225's

I like the Hondas, but too far to get them worked on, boat is 30 feet and lift kept, only goes on the trailer once a year for normal maint.(Lower unit oil etc) and when hurricanes threat, so I do not want to have to tow it 50 miles for service. Max rated at 225's so 250's are out for my model year even though it could probably handle it, do not want to overstress the transom beyond it's design specs. Also I am being mindful that it is a 98 so I am trying to keep the total weight close to what the heaviest 98 model 225's were. Even though a 100 to 150 pound increase appears unavoidable.

Any thoughts on reliability and fishibility and fuel burn of the above engines would be appreciated. Boat is 99% fishing boat and 1% cruiser. Long ocean runs around 30 to 35 mph and extended trolling along with the normal bottom fishing time will be the duty called upon for the motors.

Thanks

Fishaholic
