Hi All,

I am in the process of repowering my 19' Atlantic. Previous motor was an Evinrude 115 v4 (1999) and I don't want to replace all the controls, so am looking at either a new 2004 Johnson 90 two stroke w/ oil injection OR a 2004 Evinrude 90 E-TEC 2 stroke w/ oil injection. The 2004 Evinrude is used, the previous owner wrecked the powerhead, which has been replaced. There is a two year warranty on the Johnson, and I am still waiting to hear what type of warranty the dealer will provide on the rebuilt Evinrude. The price is ~$6200 for either option. I have heard many good things about the E-TEC engine (quiet, efficient), but am wondering about an engine with previous problems...Any advice out there?

Thanks,

Brett

If I had history of good service with the dealer, I would consider the etec.

Are you sure you want to go down in horsepower? What is the boat rated for horespower wise. You don't want to go too low than it won't perform right. 90 does seem on the small side for a 19' cc. Maybe yours is different than the main stream cc's.

Why are going to repower it, problems with the 115, or do you just not like it? this may help answer your question.

I do not know what your boat is rated for, but I always use the 80% rule. Power it with at least 80% of its rated HP.
