I have a 75hp force on the boat now. Putting a evinrude 115 hp on the boat.
I currently have rack and pinion steering sytem. The boat has zero feed back from the motor now, and tracks perfectly straight. I dont even need too hold on too the steering wheel. Will I need too upgrade this steering system for the bigger more powerfull motor.I dont want any feed back,or have too fight the steering wheel.
Thanks for any help

Probably not. Teleflex is probably your steering manufacturer....I have one of their zero feedback rack and pinion systems. I had one on a 125 Johnson and it was a standard system. The zero feedback is really nice. What you want to do is position your trim tab such that you have minimum feedback....I think for CW turning props, which most are in single installations, the farther to the right (looking from the rear) the more prop torque is offset.

Even with zero feedback, you can tell how it is setup by how much pressure it takes on the wheel to turn to port as compared to starboard. Should be equal pressure required....if you can get it...and if you have power trim the trim position will affect it. I set mine for least resistance at the trim position where I normally run.

If that is what you have may as well see if it works with the new engine, just looked in the store and there is no hp rating on them and it even lists dual engine apps so it should work fine.

Your boat if coarse is rated for 115 yes?

:):)Thanks guys
The boat is rated for up too 125hp... The new motor weighs 170 pounds more than the old motor. Which also concerns me. But the boat is rated for a larger motor.
It should fly with a 115 on it.

That steering system is perfectly fine for the new motor. You should have no issue. You may need to adjust the Trim fin on the 'rude, if the steering is a bit heavy on one side.
