i currently have a 1991 yamaha 225hp 2 stroke txrp outboard with a blown foot, so i decided to put the money into repowering instead of replacing the lower unit. the motor that i plan to repower with is a 2004 yamaha 250hp 2 stroke which would be just the outboard no wiring, my question is what is transferable between the to motors.
From what i've looked up, plus been told these are transferrable
- 703 control box
- oil sump tank

from what i've been told the engine wiring harness is transferrable but i'm not sure

things i need to buy
- guages

Like i said i'm not sure if I need any wire harness or adaptors for wiring.
i would gladly take any input on what i would need, if i'm wrong or just things i've left out.
thank you in advance

Do all that for a lower bad unit??? I just replaced my lower C/R unit with new 3 yr warr for $1090 delivered. That is the route that I would take.

I'm looking something newer as hopefully it will be more reliable and better on fuel. As I usually fish in the middle of lake ontario
