I HAVE A 1987 21' CUTTY CABIN. IF I REPOWERED THE BOAT WITH A NEWER ENGINE, OR EVEN A BRAND NEW ENGINE, WOULD THE EXSISTING MOTOR MOUNTS IN THE BOAT ACCEPT THE NEW ENGINE? ARE THEY ALL THE SAME? WOULD I NEED TO HAVE THE MOUNTS CHANGED?
MY BOAT HAS A MERCUISER 5.7 THANKS

If the boat Had a SBC,.....
Then Another 1 Will Fit Perfectly........

The Basic Outside Dimensions of the SBCs Haven't Changed since 1955............

Although you Might run into Other fitment Issues..........More Info is Needed......

BTW,...... Loose the Cap-Lock,..... It's Hard to Read,+ Rude........

Small
Block
Chevy......

Go to your local Chevy/GM dealer,+ Get yourself a "87" Vintage 5.7l Truck Long Block Crate motor,......

Bolt on All the accessories from the original motor.......

Throw it In the boat,.......

And,... Go Boating........

You need to make sure your replacement engine rear main seal is the same as the one you are taking out. One piece or Two piece?

Soooo,........

There's No Donor Motor.....???....

That Changes your position,.. Alot....
My 1st reply Still applies.....(thanks on the caplock thing)

Your boat is an 87,... So it'll be an Alpha 1 drive.....
You could buy almost any of the current issue Mercruiser SBC configurations,+ It'll Drop into Place,..........
There maybe Wiring,+ Plumbing Issues to deal with,.....
It'll be a Drop-in,.. But probably Not a Plug & Play...........
That'll run ya $3000./$5000......Just Guessing Here.....

Thanks Bondo, you've been a great help. I'm sure you'll (everyone) be seeing me alot on this forum I'm very handy, but I dont know it all. And it good that I can talk with my fellow boaters.
This boat is my pet project. It will take time, but I will get this boat restored, and floating.
Mark
