I also forgot about micro baloons. What are they and what is the strength?

Sorry about all the posts.

If you need a strong thickiner then look no farther than good ol' milled glass fiber...

Another good one is cabosil...

Microbaloons are more for "lightweight" cosmitic repairs... Not very strong...

In actuallity, none of the above fillers are very flexible in polyester because polyester itself is not at all flexible... Epoxy with your choice of thickiners is the way to go if flex is a concern...

Colloid refers to the suspension, where the silica are the tiny discrete particles in suspension.

The silica is a strenghtener that is (virtually) un affected by gravity in the suspension of the resin.

Microballons (above)are often used for an easy to sand fairing compound....they add bulk to an epoxy filet, and when mixed with silica, form a strong flexible compound.

Often, the vendor for your resin can advice the best fillers for each purpose.
