Resistor vs. Standard Sparkplug?

I own a 1983 Evinrude 35 HP (E35ECTS - #E02334180) electric start outboard. My owners manual specifies a Champion L77J4 (or NGK B7HS-10) standard plug. Subsequent OMC technical material specifies a Champion QL77JC4 (or NGK BZ7HS-10)induction resistor plug. Is my engine ignition system (CD-2 Ignition) sophisticated enough to require the induction resistor (or "monolithic") plug?

Most of the new recommondations are for resistor plugs to stop electrical interferance with electronic accesorries
