I have an 1982, 35hp Evinrude that's been parked for six years and just sold the boat. Before he takes it, I want to run it and make sure all is well, as it was when I parked it. I was going to put a water pump kit in it, change the oils and plugs before running it. Is there anything else you would recommend before restarting? Maybe something in the cylinders before cranking it over?

I did run the fuel out the last time out, but still might have some problems with the carb?

remove plugs and spray some oil into the cylinders and carbs , spin the motor over with plugs out a few times, put plugs back in pump fresh fuel with a little extra oil into carbs and crank. if it dies not start fairly quickly or runs bad, clean carbs and check spark.

What kind of oil and how much?

Thanks!

Fogging oil if you have it,you can spray in easier. If not then use two-stroke oil and pour a bit in each cyl and pull it over a few times.
