Restore Metal Flake Paint

I just bought my first boat. Someone has sprayed Lacquer on the dark blue metal flake and now it has yellowed and is falling off. Looking for ideas on good produts, ( prep to clear finish ). I don't like the idea of sanding the old clear for fear of hurting the metal flake. Help anyone.

Hey hlisonbee,<br />Greetings from the board! Good to have ya.<br />Not knowing what kind of clear-coat your boat has on it makes it sorta rough. What you might try on a small area is a solvent wash like acetone ot toluene. It might just wipe the old clear-coat off. Shouldn't hurt the gelcoat at all.
