Just wanted to share my results with others. When i bought the boat it was very "pink" and chalky looking. After trying many products i decided to try the comet and a scotch brite pad method. I don't recall who posted this method but i want to say, thank you very much. I was amazed at how the boat turned out. The finish is really just like new now. heres a before and after picture.

Sounds harsh but your boat looks great. Any specific advice other than just Comet and Scotch-Brite? I hate using compound.

Re: restoring faded gelcoat to like new.

I removed as much of the mounted hardware as possible, removed the decales and the waterline stripe on all but one side, i still have to sand and buff the lower hull on one side. Then i sanded with comet and scotch brite pad, buffed with a highspeed buffer and 3M compound then several coats of wax. You have to buff with copound to remove the fine scratches left from the comet and scotch pad.
