Does anybody else think their outboard looks a bit beat up and want to paint and re-badge it? I recently brought a cool old outboard back from the dead, but it looks pretty plain. I'd like to spiff it up some. I can paint and do bodywork, so that's not an issue. I just don't know what color this thing is supposed to be. Looks like an off-white or antique white to me, but maybe it's just showing it's age. Anybody know if I can get new stickers for this or how I can make my own? Is there a better forum to look for help like this?

You can get stickers on ebay and you can find everything on the net. Ive restored a bunch and found period paint and stickers

Could you point me in the right direction? I've looked around a little and not found much for this motor. A paint code or a close match would be great. I found a site that sells stickers for outboards, but they didn't have anything for McCulloch.

Looking to purdy up this old gem. Got her running nice, but she looks mighty plain with scuffed up whitish paint and no emblems/stickers.

Looking for a paint code or something off the shelf that is a decent match and a source for decals or emblems. Prefer McCulloch, but I guess the Sears logo is what likely came on it.

I posted under Other Outboard Brands and got no responses, so I posted here and it got moved. Now I have two posts that are almost identical there. Since I'm wanting to restore an old engine, this forum seems like the best one. Am I wrong? Sorry if not following the rules, but I don't see a forum for restoring outboards.

Ayuh,.... You've got an odd ball, that wasn't very popular when new,.....
I'd be surprised if you can find much of anything for it, or about it,....

Yer on yer own to paint it whatever color you like,....
I really doubt yer gonna find any decals for it,.... maybe some ole chainsaw decals,..??

This is what it’s supposed to look like. Can’t tell if that’s a badge or sticker. A good sign shop would easily be able to make a decal that looks exactly like that. Just need a picture and dimensions off your motor.

Do you have a picture? I restored a Sears McCulloch 7.5. It was the oddball with one transom bracket low profile design like this one but was a McCulloch. They bought out Scott Atwater and made some the same engines but with the McCulloch name

Thanks for the picture. At least now I know what I'm looking for. That looks like an emblem to me, but mine doesn't have any mounting holes so I suspect it orginally came with a sticker. Likely a Sears sticker as it was sold by Sears. I just think the McCulloch name is cool, Sears, not so much. Maybe I should look for Sears decals instead. Otherwise I got a pair of flaming skull stickers that might end up on the sides.......LOL

Look at my profile picture. Had a guy on ebay custom make mine from a picture. Do not get water decals they suck. I typed in outboard decals and found a guy really easy. Parts are hit and miss. They are around. Ive restored over 30 old outboards as a hobby. Its alot of fun

Brings back memories from my childhood days. My folks had a cottage next door to a marina and I recall seeing lots of these motors around. If my memiry serves me well, I think Scott At Water, McCulloch and West Bend were all the same, one buying out the other over the years. None were very popular, but were around. Thanks for the pics to stir some old memories!
