I am new to the forums here but am really enjoying it. I was recently given a 1989 Raven 2100 CC by a friend who is ill and unable to use the boat any longer. It has been under a carport for the past 2 years. The previous owner is a mechanic and did keep it top notch shape mechanically. The 3.0 Mercruiser cranks immediately and runs perfectly. The work I will be doing is mostly cosmetic and a little structural. I am posting this thread to report step by step what I am working on. I hope to pick up some tips and tricks from some of you along the way as well as provide some insight to anyone who is attempting a similar project.
Projects:
1. Remove heavy oxidation
2. Cleaning the vinyl seats. Heavy mildew.
3. Replace the deck. This was done a few years ago but needs to be done again. I am hoping the stringers and transom are in good shape but will not know until I pull the deck.
One tip I have to share is for cleaning GPS, Fish Finder or other electronics with plastic screens. My Eagle Super Pro had heavy oxidation on the screen. I was concerned that I would have to replace it. I visited my local Outdoor World and looked at all of the chemicals offered promising to restore the screen. One of the associates suggested trying white tooth paste. I tried it and was amazed at the results. The screen cleared up like new.
I will post pictures as soon as possible.
