Well you all know that im restoring the checkmate........When the 305 spun a bearing i decided to go with a 350 ( Another thread) so when i was taking everything apart it did not have the restrictor plates in-between the elbow and manifold.

I put the (NEW 350) back together without the plate to make sure everything is good with motor...even used the green gaskets ......checked out, all good with motor.....now i want to put it back together right

I bought the new plates with weep holes and new quicksilver gaskets.

I understand the flow diagram and all but....

Question.......What does the plate exactly do? Does it keep the motor cooler????

Thanks!

The water has to stay contained for it to pick up the heat from a motor. free ,fast flowing water does not pick up the heat and the motor can overheat or the manifolds

Re: Restrictor plate log style riser?

Thanks BT........So with the plate the water Circulates thru the block to pick up heat…then when the thermostat opens it dumps the hot water out the riser elbow on the other side of the plate.
