When I bought my boat new in 1984 I immediately equipped it with a new 9.9 Evinrude 2-stroke kicker. I used an OMC bracket (the one with the gas powered lift cylinder) and it has performed flawlesly until last year.

The cylinder has lost its gas and a few of the holes in the aluminum mechanism parts have elongated from the steel bolts. I always thought they were the best brackets on the market, but unfortunately they are not made any more.

I see Garelick and Fulton brackets in catalogs, but have not seen any testimonials. Can anyone recommend a good bracket from personal experience?

they both have good reputations, both been around a long time. i think Fulton is top of the line, they are in winches and tongue jacks.
