I work for my father. He owns an outboard repair shop. One day I was testing a customer's boat at the lake. I felt a vibtation from the gear case so I shut the engine down and tilted it up. Once I got back there I noticed the propeller had worked its way to the end of the shaft...The nut had fell off...no key I guess. I reached for the prop and it fell to the bottom of the lake...About 8 feet deep, dark and cold water.I noticed where I was , about 30 feet from the ramp..I loaded the boat up and went back to the shop and got another prop...I went back with a piece of pvc pipe with a bent landscape nail duct taped to it...I launched the boat and anchored down in the general area...In about an hour of probing around Ihooked the (STAINLESS PROP)
NEVER GIVE UP WHEN YA MIGHT HAVE TO PAY FOR A $500.00 PROP

Re: retrieve a prop

$500 is a lot of money to let sink away.
Good thing you got it back.
