How many times can the 6 nuts be reused when removing and reinstalling the SX outdrive? My manual says they should not be reused but I can't find replacements, and I've been reusing mine since new. Should I be concerned? What source should I be using to find replacements? Thank you.

If the plastic material of the nylock nut is worn out and the nut seems rather easy to install with very little effort then replacing the nuts should be considered....Being an 1997, and if the drive is removed often then yes you should consider buying new ones from Volvo soon.

IF???? the nut come off easily.
Use a spot of silicone or Loktite.
Not a fix just a way to stop them from backing off.
