Rev Limiter

I have a 1977 15hp johnson, It is bouncing off the rev limiter and full throttle. Ive put it on a heavier boat, changed prop, and changed plugs. The motor idles fine and jumps right up on plain.Any suggestions as what to try next?

It will be news to me if a '77 model has a rev limiter. Not saying it doesn't have one, but I certainly didn't know it. If it is jumping out of gear it is probably your clutch dog.
I'm curious to hear about the rev limiter.

I was under the impresion it was a rev limiter, but it is definitly busting up at the top end. I think it is a coil but not sure is there a way to check this other than buy new coils?

What is the part number on the powerpack that is on it?
