An earlier post peaked my interest.

Where is the rev limiter? Can it be adjusted? Do all motors act the same when you hit the limiter?

Re: rev limiter

the rev limiter is in the ign module on carb engines and in the ecm on fuel injected engines. not adjustable in either case.thought they all backfired when when they reached the limit till yesterday ,when the one i was running didn't backfire but i know it was limiting.

Re: rev limiter

I think I hit it once, about the second time out this summer, but the boat felt like someone closed the carb choke for just a second. I backed completely off the throttle and was thinking the worst----started up slowly again and have never had the symptom since.

I know the gas was good and this little episode had me puzzled.

Then I saw the limiter discussion on another post and wondered if anyone had a similar episode on the high seas.

Re: rev limiter

So if you have an older style engine (no electronic ignition) there is no rev limiter?

dd,
A "1999 Baja 192 Islander, 5.7 Chevy, 250 hp, Alpha 1 Gen 2 drive,"
You Should have a Thunder-Bolt V ingition system.... That means you'd have a Rev-limiter,+ a Knock-Senser....
If you have the Thunder-Bolt IV, then you'll have Neither of these features found in the newer system......
