Reverse Bearing Carrier Install

Manual says on final installation of bearing carrier apply Perfect Seal liberally to outer diameters which contact gear housing & to retainer threads.

Perfect Seal is hard to find locally but from searching around I gather Aviation Permatex is the same or very close product.

Is this true?

I have used the Permatex for years on many applications but if I had not read the manual I would have reached for a waterproof grease for the carrier install.

The brown brushable sticky Permatex just seems like an odd choice but if it is indeed the same as Perfect Seal that is what I will use.

Permatex will work just as well as perfect seal.
