This is a 20HP Mercury, Electric Start, Long Shaft Outboard, manufactured in 1980, S/N: 5607390

I purchased this motor last year. I used it all summer with some mild "sticky shifter" problems described in this forum previously. Some of the members here responded giving me the suggestion to check the Reverse Lock. Sure enough, it appears the that Reverse Lock on my engine needs a complete rebuild - this shaft that connects to the lock mechanism appears to have been damaged and replaced with non-standard parts. The Reverse Lock Cam also appears to have been damaged.

What I need help with is how do you replace the Reverse Lock Link Rod, Reverse Lock Cam and Reverse Lock Cam Retainer. I've ordered the replacement parts to do the job, but need your help in actually getting it done. Thanks in advance!

Without a manual you might go to BAM Marine .com an ck their parts break down for that engine
