I have a 1978 sea sprite sea gull powered by an 898 mercruiser. I have been having problems with the sterndrive bleeding down and not staying in trim, and I think I found where air was getting in the system. I found the reverse lock valve leaking and re-built it using the correct o-ring kit from sierra. I have re-built this thing twice and cannot get it to stop leaking. Is it possible That I have the lines from the pump reversed causing the high pressure side to blow fluid out the reverse lock valve? All the manuals are a little vauge on which lines go where on the pump and on the cylinders. I am really thinking of buying a new style pump and by-passing the lock valve. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
