I'm having a problem engaging reverse on a alpha 1. Forward is fine, mabey a little jolt when engaging. Raising the idle seemed to help, but once engine is warm it runs to high. Any Ideas?
Thanks for any input

Possible vacuum leak? Or the carb needs cleaned?

I'm not familiar with your engine, but those are some typical things to look for.

The most common problem with shifting and stalling is the neutral switch adjustment in the shifter. Setting the idle higher is probably just letting the engine spin enough while you pass the neutral point and the ignition kicks back in.
