Reverse Problem

I have a 1971 mercruiser 2.5 GM with a type 1 sterndrive that runs great in fwd. but when shifted into rev. the eng. stops running, what could cause this problem? Thanks

Ayuh,.... Odds are the lower shift cable is Draggin' causing the shift switch to stall the motor...
The Fix is, Replacin' the lower shift cable...
