I have a 1987 Party Hut with a 85 Merc. Yesterday I was coming into dock and attempted to put it in reverse to slow down and found that it would not shift into reverse. I was able to drift in and without breking my legs stopped just prior to hitting the dock.
When a buddy went to the rear to check the shifter he found that there was what was described to me as a grommet that had slipped out of the rear of the lower unit and was binding a "cable" that came out of the lower unit near the prop. We found that the shifter cables moved fine into the motor but the problem was down below.
Can anybody tell me what to order and how to fix it.
