Reverse rotation 7.4 Gen IV cam question

I'm rebuilding a 454 Gen IV standard rotation engine. I'm changing it to reverse rotation. I have a reverse rotation flat tappet cam that has a gear to gear set up. The problem I'm having is the cam wants to walk out of the block when the crank is turned (RH rotation from the rear of the motor). I thought the flat tappet cam lobes are cut in a way the cam will want to stay towards the back of the motor. Does anyone have a fix for this. A cam button will not work due the cam gear being a press on style. Can a thrust plate be used with a flat tappet cam. Need some help. Please.

All I've heard is that you need a cam button on R.R. motors for that reason. I don't know if there's anything else made for this problem?

Are you turning the engine without the heads and valve gear on? If so, then the lobes aren't loaded, so can't 'push' the cam back....
