I bought TITAN / DICO Model 60 Lever Lock Disc Actuator w/Solenoid. How do I wire it to activate when my reverse lights go on?

Re: Reverse solenoid

Yeah I can do with out the attitude and I have searched for it on google. This is last resort and I have found that exact thing. It tells you nothing on how to hook up the solenoid to the reverse lights. Which is what disengauges the brakes when backing up. Also the company I bought it from is the first thing that comes up when you search it on google.

Re: Reverse solenoid

I don't understand your question. Can you not find the wire on the trailer? Does it currently go to the trailer connector? Your trailer connector will be a 5 pole connector vs a normal 4 pole connector.

Re: Reverse solenoid

I found the answer to my question. I just need a five prong plug in for my truck and 5 prong for the trailer so I have the reverse lights to connect to it.

Re: Reverse solenoid

I think... the back-up lights, of a tow vehicle, are not normally wired into a 7 pin trailer connector - as it comes from the factory. However, the center pin in a 7 pin connector is standard for the backup lights to actuate the solenoid for a boat trailer. Therefore, you would have to tap into the back-up light wire and add it to the 7 pin (center) connector.

Can someone refute or confirm this?

Re: Reverse solenoid

we know what the blue reverse lockout wire on the trailer does.
what we dont know is what vehicle the trailer is being plugged into.
some vehicles actually run seperate circuits for trailer wiring and if you splice a wire the vehicles ECU may detect it as a fault and set a code and some dash lights.
consult your vehicle dealership for answers to most modern vehicles wiring.
if you have a late model jeep and tap directly into the reverse lamp wireing not only did you set up a corrosin path but usually the ECU will detect the extra electrical load and set off alarms.

Good point. Definitely need to check your particular vehicle.

Re: Reverse solenoid

Why mess around with 4 and 5 pin connectors at all? Just cut the plug off the trailer and wire a 7 pin connector on it.

The 7 pin is by far the most common connector on the road. Every vehicle with a factory tow package has one. No more messing around with connectors when interchanging vehicles.

Most guys I know have already seen the light and made the conversion. ;)

Re: Reverse solenoid

I agree, I use a 7 pin connector on my boat trailer as well.
