Reversed battery connection, after correcting it, I tried to start my engine- nothing. Worked my way to find 80A fuse common to the the starter and charging circuit that was melted. Thought now that I had corrected the battery all is well and good. replaced link to test my theory - Wrong, blown link, no reaction on the part of the starter or anything. Ultimately found that the + and - coming directly from the boat to the + and - of the starter was shorted after removing the cable from the starter. It did seem like it was charging and settled at about 1.3 Ohms when I measured across it. I'm puzzled because wires at the key switch and kill switch should have fried before the 80A fuse? I'd appreciate your help and direction/ trouble shooting tips.
