Let me tell you about my experience today before I forget. Also, after a full day of boating, I am exhausted. So here it goes.

Running a 1985 1600 Bayliner Cuddy Cabin on a big open bay with a 9 gallon primary and 6 gallon secondary gas tank (pre mix) I was totally surprised at the performance.

First of all, I was getting about 38 mph on a big mud puddle of a lake that had no waves or wake besides other boats a few weeks ago.

On the bay, me and my two youngest kids were running hard this step deep v hull. I have to admit, that darn hull cut through the 2'-3' waves nice. Instead of a constant pounding, the deep V on this 16 foot boat changed the pounding (like I expected from my last boat) into a mellow up and down run like you were running a sports car over hill and valley.

Regardless, toward the end of the outing, I was south of the big island and had to high-tail it back home. The kids were sound asleep again, and I ran the throttle up to about 25-28 mph with an ever increasing chop. At this point the little Bayliner was cutting the wakes and chop like it wasn't even there.

Totally exceeded expectations.....

Cool little boat. Much, much better than I expected.

Bayliner hulls are very high performance hulls. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
