hey guys,

i have an 83 johnson 15hp seahorse and just replaced a broken rewind spring for the pull start. however it still winds slowly and intermitantly when it wants to. i imagine everythings working they way it should but i think i need to get some tension in that coil for a fast rewind any ideas on how to load that spring when installing it.

thanks a bunch...

Re: rewind spring tension

Did you lubricate the spring?

Sounds lazy. Lube should fix it up. Did you get the recoil attached properly? If you didn't align the pin in the spring correctly it won't seat right and you'll have the same problem. You did load the spring up before you attached the cord right?

Completely disassemble the whole assembly and clean it.Reassemble using two-stroke oil.Give it three full turns to preload it.

I forgot .... replace rope with correct part number, and be sure to fill the pulley first.
