Rewind starter

Have a '69 Johnson 33 Horse Electric and my question is what other recoils are compatable with this one ?

I have seen one with 3 little springs that cause the pawls to sling out when pulled and one wihtout.

Mine now pulls just fine untill I bolt it over the flywheel . Then it will pull but won't rewind or pulls without engaging.

The 1969 has an improved design that does not use the little pawl springs. However, it is interchangeable with earlier models that do use pawl springs. I can't imagine what would be wrong with it to cause it to only work when removed or upside down. But it should be obvious. It isn't exactly a rocket component.

LOL, yeah that is exactly what is so frustrating! sometihng easy to someone who has more experience I am certain. Like stupid easy.
