rewiring a boat trailer is a cake walk especially a 17footer. The hollow trailer tubes make it easy, you just might want to get your self a fish tap to help run the wires. Dont waste the money to pay someone to do it, it takes 30 min max. Good Luck

Don't pull the old wires out, tie the new wires to them and use the old wires to pull them through the trailer.

I just re-wired the trailer for my 16-ft boat...cost was around $30 (wiring kit + some clips to hold the wires in place) and around 45 minutes...probably could have been done quicker if I didn't make frequent stops to enjoy a "tasty beverage".

Make sure you have enough wire for each light fixture before cutting them and proper ground is essential. What I did on mine is I solder the end and any split that is required and also heat wrap the wire. Soldering the wire gives it a good and solid contact. A little extra work now would simplify your life in the end.

Do whay gearyg said when your putting them in. if the holes not big enough to tie the wires and slide them in then lay about 6inchs on top of the old wire and wrap it in electrical tape. ive done it for every wiring job ive ever done and it keeps me calm.
