I am moving to the jupiter, fl area and am wanting to buy a boat. My question is, i want a boat that can serve multiple purposes and wonder if anyone can tell me if its realistic. I am going to learn to dive and have been told that within 5mi out there is some decent diving as well as fishing, also i would like a boat that would be able to fish inshore/if possible on or near flats. My biggest concern is i dont wanna go out 5mi and the motor quit so something newer or within past 5-10yrs is def and may get a small 6-9hp motor to ensure i can get back. anyway i would appreciate any help and i have no exact preferance just a general idea of what ppl think is best.

Look at a Carolina Skiff. I have a diver friend in Canada who routinely takes 4 or 5 guys out on a 21 DLX. It is stable, draws little water and roomy.
