hello i was just wondering if the 89 force 125 is left or right handed , in forward should the prop spin clockwise or counterclockewise , the reason i ask is my 96 90 hp blew up and i had a 89 125 rebilt and installed but it did not have a prop so i used the one off my 90 hp and in reverse boat goes forward and when i put in in forward it wont engage probally due to linkage problem which is easy fix but i dont know so i need to know direction prop is supposed to spin to help elimanate problems thanks for all your help

Force never made a counterrotating model. They all spin right.

You've got me totally confused? take off the cover, and crank the motor with the starter, it should be cranking clockwise! If not your battery, or starter, is wired backwards, and you must reverse the leads,,, I don't see how it can run backwards, (this sounds like a joke?) but I guess anythings possible? By the way, notice the rope grooves in the flywheel, they are there for emergency starting with a rope, winding up the rope, and pulling it to start, is made to be done clockwise only.

The 96 90 had a Merc leg. The 89 is all US Marine Force. What throttle/shift are you using? The Merc control pulls the shift mechanism forward, the US Marine control moves the shift mechanism back. You can put a universal-type cable on a Merc control, the US Marine control uses universal cables. You must be using the Merc control with universal-type cables? Man, this is hurting my brain on a Saturday.

i wish it was a joke the boat repair shop orderd new cables to make moter work since we were going from a 96 to an 89 work but my shifter is the same one as before all that changed was the cables , could this be the problem

Yup, that's the problem. You need a US Marine Force control.

when you say the shift control you do mean the actual shifter that i use to shift with right please forgive me i am new to boating and i am taking a hard lesson on used boats is this cheap or easy to find or even neccasery can i just remember wich way is forward and reverse thanks thanks
