Ring stuck?

I have a 9.9 evinrude 1976 and I think the ring is stuck on the top piston cause i'm not getting anycompression. I believe this is my problem and was wondering what i can do to get the ring unstuck and if anyone thinks it may be something else causeing it to lose compression?

What is your compression readings? Maybe you have a head gasket problem. Pull the head and check it out.

the top cylinder registers nothing, the bottom is 95

I would pull the head and have a look at the cylinder walls. If they look fine, while you have it off you could spray lots of Deep Creep around the piston and if it is a stuck ring that will work as well as anything I'm aware of to release it. I would do this for a week though. I would not expect it to pop out in ten minutes. Deep Creep is made by the same outfit as seafoam. With a compression of 00 I wonder if your head gasket is blown or even other (more serious) problems. Best of luck. Rick.
