I've used the Yamaha Ringfree for years with good results, but have been considering using the Mercury Quicksilver Quickclean to help remove any carbon in the engine. Have any of you folks have any real-world experiences using Quikclean, good or bad? Checking the MSDS for each product and visually, they are quite different....

Re: Ringfree/Quikclean

Robert, I have a 200 05 hpdi with 1600 hrs. I have used ring free religiously from the beggining but have also used quickclean and tried lucas. ran quickclean for about 20 hrs(bought it on sale for $8/bottle couldn't resist). my experience was good with QC but no better than ring free. at the end of last year I had my hpdi decarbed and the mechanic told me that there was very little carbon dispite the fact a troll alot at low RPMs(600 to 800). Ring free is great with reducing carbon buildup. I buy ring free for $27/quart at EDS Marine outside of Richmond once a year when they have a 40% off sale.
