I just purchased a 1993 rinker captiva 23' . I thought it was the sport model, but that doesnt seem to exist on nada for that year. The boats weight is 3750 lbs. It came with mirage 21 pitch prop the prop is in decent shape. It has the 502 Mag carb 390hp. I had six people in the boat including me and a full tank of gas (50 gal). It got up to close to indicated 60mph. Hole shot was decent for all the extra weight in the back. I wasnt looking to close at the rpm but im guessing it was around 4600. NOrmaly I will be running about half this size load. I would like to be able to run 70mph on gps. Maybe a labed 23 pitch? or will that just be too much prop?

thanks

When You get specific data GPS MPH and accuate RPM's let us know. You are going to need alot more motor for anywhere near 70..

5300 RPms, 58.6 mph on gps, Seemed like i could have pushed it a little more, but it is already 500 rpm over the max recommended. Two adults and a child in the boat. 420lbs. I would like it to run about 4700 rpm with this load. Obviously i need at least a 23p, im thinking of a 25 if you look at this rinker captiva.

Currently my boat has a mirage 21 in fair condition, the previous owner must have used it a lot for skiing or tubing.

I'd try maybe a Bravo 1 25P. 23 will drop you 400 at best and still you wont be where you want to be.
