Riser Gasket Compound or Not?

I am installing a new exhaust manifold gasket and it says not to use gasket sealing compound on it. I'm also changing the riser gasket. Does anyone know if I should use sealing compound on that or not? Thanks

Ayuh,....

Mercruiser gaskets go on Dry....

If they're GLM manifolds,....
You can't get enough Glue on them to stop them from Leaking....
I had to have mine Machined Flat.....

Its a Johnson/Evinrude Gasket on a 2.3L Ford/Omc Capri Bayliner. How do you check if the riser is flat? Thanks.

Run a metal square on them. If not square and true, use a file.

Than you could use Permatex aviation form a gasket, i know it won't melt.

Do you know how to pray. If yes?

Then pray that the fix works, and someone buys that boat from you ,right after you fixed it.
